The Friday Harbor girls and boys varsity basketball team lost conference games to Orcas Island High School on December 17. The girls arrived at 50-29 and the boys at 50-43. The men’s team lost again to the Bush School in a conference game on Dec. 21 at 51-49.
Coach Collin Williamson exclaimed: “The basketball season has been a challenge so far!”
So far, the girls and boys basketball teams have lost all of their conference games. The girls had three conference games and the boys had two. There are nine more conference games to come.
Williamson said of the Orcas game: “We are almost back from a big deficit in the first quarter.”
He went on to say that he would like to congratulate Orcas on the well executed game and that the team are looking forward to having them in their gym on Seniors’ night.
To combat the losses, he explained that the players have worked very hard in training and in matches to execute their plans, which currently focus on working their position both individually and as a group.
“We are focusing on the basics and getting to be a better team every day,” said Williamson.
The matches will resume after the winter break on January 6 against Coupeville for the men’s and women’s teams.
