Meet SBLive’s 2021-22 All-State Florida Women’s Basketball Teams: Ta’Niya Latson is Player of the Year

Seven state champions were crowned in late February in Florida high school women’s basketball.

Dr. Phillips, St. Thomas Aquinas, American Heritage, Lake Highland Prep, Westminster Academy, Miami Christian and Ponce de Leon won the Ultimate Team award in their respective divisions.

Now is the time to hand out individual awards.

Here’s a look at our all-state teams spanning all FHSAA classifications, along with our awards for Player of the Year, Coach of the Year, Underclassman of the Year and Rookie of the Year. year.

PLAYER OF THE YEAR:

Ta’Niya Latson, American Heritage Plantation

Latson, a Florida State signee, led the American Heritage Plantation Lady Patriots to their fifth straight state championship. Latson averaged 27.2 points, eight rebounds, seven assists and 5.3 steals per game.

UNDERCLASSMAN OF THE YEAR

Jada Eads, Wekiva

Eads led the Wekiva Lady Mustangs to their second straight state championship appearance. Eads averaged 17.2 points, 6.0 rebounds and nearly three assists per game.

FIRST YEAR OF THE YEAR

Lena Girardi, #2

The Westminster Academy Lady Lions won their first state championship in 31 years by beating Cardinal Mooney 44-41. Girardi has been a big part of their success this season. Girardi averaged 20.2 points and 8.3 rebounds per game this season for the Lions.

COACH OF THE YEAR

Al Honor, Highland Lake Preparation

Honor led the Lake Highland Prep Highlanders to their third consecutive State Championship and first State Champions Invitational last weekend in Tampa.


FIRST TEAM ALL-STATE

Madison Aguilera, Gulliver Prep

Aguilera has averaged 21.8 points, 4.7 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game this season.

Ta’Niya Latson, American Heritage Plantation

Latson averaged 27.2 points, 8.0 rebounds, 7.0 assists and 5.3 steals per game.

Addison Potts, South of Fort Myers

The Purdue signee has averaged 21.4 points, 7.3 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game this season.

Emma Risch, Palm Bay

Risch averaged 20.5 points, 6.9 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 3.1 steals per game for the Lady Pirates.

Taliah Scott, National Day of Saint John

Scott averaged 31.5 points, 6.2 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 3.4 steals per game.


SECOND TEAM ALL-STATE

Lena Girardi, Westminster Academy

Girardi averaged 20.2 points and 8.3 rebounds per game, leading the Lady Lions to their first state title in 31 years.

Sydney Gomes, Nease

Gomes averaged 19.8 points, 6.2 rebounds and nearly five assists per game for the Lady Panthers.

Emily McIntosh, St. Augustine

McIntosh has averaged 12.6 points, 7.3 rebounds, 7.2 assists and 3.3 steals per game this season.

Tonie Morgan, Florida State University High School (Tallahassee)

Morgan averaged 20.1 points, 6.6 rebounds and four assists per game, leading the Seminoles to the state semifinals.

Trinity Turner, Dr Phillips

Turner averaged 15.9 points, 8.6 rebounds and 6.4 assists per game this season, leading the Lady Panthers to their first state title in nine years.


ALL-STATE THIRD TEAM

Katie Ambrose, Gulf Coast

Ambrose averaged 10.4 points, 4.5 rebounds and 6.4 assists per game this season, leading the Lady Sharks to a regional final.

Alyssa Bongiovanni, Steinbrenner

Bongiovanni has averaged 11.3 points, 8.3 rebounds and 5.5 assists per game for the Lady Warriors this season.

Kristina Godfrey, Miami Campaign Party

Godfrey averaged 14.9 points, 4.3 rebounds and 6.1 assists per game for the Lady Spartans this season.

Dyllan Hanna, Bartram Trail

Hanna has averaged 11.8 points and 13.0 rebounds per game for the Lady Bears this season.

Jordan Kosoy, North Broward Prep

Kosoy averaged 13.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 7.1 assists per game this season for the Lady Eagles.
